Walk Your Socks Off
Reading Time 2 mins
In support of our charity partner, The Guide Dogs for the Blind, fourteen of our colleagues walked their socks off to raise money for children and adults living with sight loss.
At Gobeyond Partners, we are proud to have Guide Dogs for the Blind as our chosen charity partner for 2021. With a colleague donation target for the year of £10,000, on top of the £20,000 already donated by Webhelp, we are organising and participating in various initiatives to raise money.
In early May, we recruited those up for the challenge to take part in Walk Your Socks Off, the charity week of walking. The target was to achieve 1,000,000 steps in a week.
Colleagues achieved their step targets in many different environments, including walking to the source of the River Severn in Wales, playing golf and climbing to the top of a mountain. One of the team from our overseas office even got involved by wandering the picturesque streets of his hometown in Germany.

Everyone set their own individual step target and between us we managed to walk over 1.1 million steps – which would roughly take someone from London to Turin.
As a result, we raised a total of £517 for Guide dogs for the Blind. This brings our total raised so far across a number of activities to almost £4,000.
Each month, we will be running initiatives for colleagues to get involved in to help generate more funds. Next up in June, we are taking part in The Conqueror. This event is a ‘pick your own adventure’ challenge, which will run across the whole of the month. Coming up there will also be a Poker Night, Cycling Challenge and 3-Peaks Challenge to name a few.
“It’s been great working with the Guide Dogs for the Blind. Their values align very closely with ours and the work they do is very valuable. It’s fantastic to see how our people have got behind fundraising and also how well Matt Ashford has been working with them to develop his Innovation practice. As Covid restrictions ease, we are looking forward to being able to offer the chance for some of our people to visit their facilities to see first-hand what is involved in training a Guide Dog, which will, of course, mean the chance to meet some of the puppies!”
