Gobeyond Partners continues its commitment to provide support to communities in need. Earlier this year, the team voted to select the charity they would most like to partner with in 2023, and The Trussell Trust came out on top.

The charity is widely known for its network of food banks across the UK providing emergency food parcels and assistance to people who need them, whilst campaigning to end the need for food banks in the country.

In the UK, more than 14 million people are living in poverty, including 4.5 million children. In 2021/22, for the first time since the first year of the pandemic, food banks in the Trussell Trust’s UK wide network distributed over 2.1 million emergency food parcels to people in crisis - with 832,000 of these parcels being distributed to children.

Ida Taseva, Trussell Trust’s Community & Events Fundraising Officer, commented: “With rising living costs and energy prices at record highs, many people are facing impossible decisions this winter, like whether to cook hot food or switch on the heating. But ultimately, no one in the UK should need a food bank — all of us should have enough money for the essentials like food, clothing and heating. The support of Gobeyond Partners will help food banks within our network continue to provide that lifeline of emergency support, while we work together in the long term to ensure everyone can afford the essentials, like food.”

Following last year’s team efforts in fundraising for Brain Tumour Research, the team envisioned more opportunities for everyone to participate by setting multiple goals to support The Trussell Trust and their long-term campaign to end the need for emergency food.

The goal is to extend our collaboration with two new pillars – food donations and volunteering. The charity of the year coordinators came together and establish targets to reach by the end of 2023, aiming to complete 450 volunteering hours and collect 2.5 tonnes of food, that is 22kg/person. Over the next months, they will organise different activities alongside The Trussell Trust to ensure the team achieves their ultimate targets.

Chris Hallmark, Managing Director, Transformation Design at Gobeyond Partners, commented: “I am very pleased that we have chosen to support the Trussell Trust as our charity of the year for 2023. Rises in the cost of living have pushed an unprecedented number of families into an impossible situation, forcing them to choose between heating, eating and maintaining the roof over their heads. The Trussell Trust provides immediate help but is also developing strategies to lead the UK out of food poverty over the long term. As some of the most fortunate members of society, it feels right to invest in helping those less fortunate than us”.

The team at Gobeyond Partners has no doubt everyone will put a collective effort to do their part to help low-income communities and make a change to end the need for emergency food.
