Joining the Webhelp Group for World Environment Day

The team at Gobeyond Partners joined the wider Webhelp group to take part in World Environment Day on Sunday 5th June.
To support the day we asked the team for a personal carbon-reduction pledge, detailing what they would be doing to reduce their carbon footprint for the year ahead, in the hope that these pledges could be adapted for the rest of 2022 and beyond.
According to United Nations assessments, every three seconds, the world loses enough forest to cover a football pitch and over the last century, half of our wetlands have been destroyed. In addition, up to 50% of our coral reefs have already been lost, a figure that could rise to 90% by 2050 if we do not change our ways.
Thankfully these issues have been brought to the forefront and are now being addressed on an international scale through political involvement, media awareness for global warming increasing and names like David Attenborough and Greta Thunberg spreading their environmental advocacy.
World Environment Day is celebrated annually on 5th June and is the United Nations’ principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of the environment, celebrated internationally since 1974 under the slogan ‘Only One Earth’. Many people take this day as an opportunity to make their own personal pledge for improving their impact on the environment and corporations also tend to take part each year to do their bit.
Matt Ashford, Innovation Practice Director at Gobeyond Partners said “It has been great to act as one of the Greenhelp ambassadors and help the team here at Gobeyond to get involved in World Environment Day. I’m conscious that even the smallest of pledges can make a difference and with over 100,000 employees across the Webhelp group we can have a real impact on our environment. My pledge is turn it off at the wall, every time, and I hope others can join me in taking this simple but effective step”

Our contribution to World Environment day is part of our wider ESG and charity plans for 2022.
As well as this, we are proud to partner with Brain Tumour Research as our charity partner for the year. So far, we have raised almost £5,000, 35% of our 2022 target.
This has been achieved through many events including a raffle, a cycle ride, wear a hat to work day, a Winter Olympic sweepstake, 10,000 steps a day challenge and other general donations.
