Say hello to Paul Thomas

Director of Business Design

Drawing on over 18 years’ experience in management consulting, Paul works closely with clients to guide them to success in their transformation programmes

Paul engages with the client management team to develop their understanding of business design and build confidence in the new business that they are building together. His approach is calm, supportive and thorough, ensuring that due consideration is given to the people who will be affected by change.

Consulting experience

Business Design projects across the service sector. Leading and mentoring extensive client teams, taking design from initial requirements through current state assessment and concept development, to successful proof of concept pilot.

Operating model

Led the design of a new operating model for a National Mapping Service to provide closer integration of their geospatial operations teams with their customer support teams. Worked closely with input from a broad range of client stakeholders to ensure a design that would work for their customers and enhance customer journeys, position the business for future growth, drive efficiencies and make the business easier to manage as well as a better environment for employees.

Strategic review and business strategy development

Reviewed the current market positioning for a health care insurance provider, identifying a number of vulnerabilities and opportunities. These were translated into a proposed strategy to deliver and profitability, in line with the board’s expectations. Gobeyond Partners subsequently worked with the client to implement the changes necessary to execute the strategy effectively.

Market entry strategy

Conducted a thorough investigation of the opportunities, requirements and pitfalls for a substantial entry into the North American market for a multi-national outsource service provider. A number of entry strategies were identified to augment the existing light touch presence in the market. This was supported with high level execution plans, target customer portfolio, proposed organisation structure and operational location infrastructure analysis

Multiple operating models

Worked extensively with a global risk management and advisory business to carry out operational reviews and complete operating model designs across a number of their operating functions – including business units and support functions such as Marketing & Communications, each of which operated with a global or multi-national remit. Although within the same overall business, each operating model had to be designed to the specific needs and conditions of the individual function.
