2022 was a successful year of fundraising for Brain Tumour Research with an aim to raise £13,700 to help fund the fight against this type of cancer. We are delighted to announce that we exceeded this target, raising a total of £14,300.

To mark the funds raised, Gobeyond Partners will have five engraved tiles placed on the Wall of Hope at the Brain Tumour Research Centres of Excellence where dedicated scientists work in long-term research to find a cure for brain tumours. Deb Gascoyne, Community Fundraiser at Brain Tumour Research, reflected on the impact this contribution will make:

“We are honoured to have been Gobeyond Partners’ Charity of the Year. Their fundraising over the past 12 months will help us in our mission to build a network of experts in sustainable research at dedicated UK Centres of Excellence. Ultimately, this will lead to better outcomes for patients – from improved awareness for earlier diagnosis, to the development of more effective personalised treatments and targeted drugs. Through the funds generated, we will be able to significantly fast-track progress towards finding a cure for brain tumours.”

The engraved tiles will recognise and celebrate the team’s efforts in funding this research by including our logo and a short message.

This partnership holds particular personal significance here at Gobeyond Partners, with the wife of one of our colleagues passing away in March following a long and incredibly spirited battle with the illness.

Achieving our goal took a collective effort from the team, with everyone participating in different activities all year long. Here are some of the highlights:

10,000 steps a day in February Challenge:

The fundraising kicked off in February with the 10,000 steps a day challenge. The target was 7,000,000 steps altogether. As a team, we managed to beat this target by clocking 7,483,587 steps in total.

We raised a total of £3,133 covering more than a day of research with this challenge alone.

Wear a Hat Day

In March, Gobeyond Partners joined Brain Tumour Research in Wear a Hat Day. Thousands of Brain Tumour Research supporters across the UK donned hats of all shapes and sizes to raise thousands of pounds to help fund vital research aimed at finding a cure for brain tumours.

More than 50 colleagues here at Gobeyond Partners, both at home and in the office, took part in this campaign, which in combination with a raffle, raised a combined total of £1,755.

Ad Hoc Activities

Colleagues also participated in other smaller, but equally valuable entertaining events that made further inroads to fundraising target and the wider sustainability of vital brain tumour discovery research.

In February, Will Thompson, Principal Consultant, organised a Winter Olympics sweepstake, which contributed £430 more towards the total, with a World Cup sweepstake adding another estimated £430.

Our annual golf day at Blackwell Golf Club was a huge success, as well as our Charity Poker Night, raising altogether £3,200, while several colleagues took part in a range of personal challenges. This includes fundraising lead, Richard Davies, participating in the Isle of Wight Ultra Randonnee in July, where he cycled twice around the island, Kayleigh Coombes, Executive Assistant, taking part in a Tough Mudder, with other colleagues braving the Skydive for Hope, cycling from London to Brighton, and completing The London Marathon. The total amount raised led us to be able to fund 5 days of research.

Mark Palmer, Chief Executive Officer, Gobeyond Partners, commented:

“I appreciate everyone in the team for putting time and effort in to make a real difference for brain tumour patients. It’s a charity that is incredibly close to our hearts and one that we’ll continue to support in the years ahead, we could not have surpassed our fundraising target without Richard’s organisational skills and enthusiasm, the support of everyone in the Brain Tumour Research team and of course, the enthusiasm of our colleagues. A huge thank you to all.”
